Ph.D. in Public Health

Purpose

This doctoral program intends to develop advanced level public health experts and specialists with multidisciplinary knowledge and research skills in public health expertise and related areas to solve the diverse health problems facing the aging society and global health.

Desired human resources development

This doctoral program emphasizes on the generation of human resources who have a thorough levels and depth of expertise, multidisciplinary knowledge, research and education skills in public health, and who potentially contribute to the improvement of public health administration and community, schools, workplaces, and international health.

Career after completion

There are possibilities to be engaged as professional education researchers, healthcare and welfare administrators, and specialist managers of health care facilities in universities and research institutions both in Japan and overseas.

Curriculum policy

Our curriculum delivers expertise in integrated multidisciplinary areas related to public health, and provides strictly disciplined time-fashioned education and research guidance to develop advanced research skills, ethics, and problem-solving capability from the field of human science, health and sports sciences, and medicine collaborating with the Human Care Science Degree Program in cooperation with National Institute of Public Health.

Desired applicants Holding a deep interest and attention in public health-related sciences and problems in the concerned domains and have a strong mindset with determination and willingness to work on scientific elucidation and problem solving from a multidisciplinary perspective. In addition, our program wishes to select the potential candidates interested in aiming to solve various global issues through advanced specialized knowledge and technology, and finally serves and contributes to Japan and overseas. Admission selection policy The selection will be conducted based on the comprehensive evaluation through written tests related to specialization area and English proficiency, and the oral examinations based on research plans, focusing on the ability of research, practice, and international cooperation.
